ORTHOPAEDIC:-

• Orthopaedi c deals with disorders of locomotors system i.e. bones, joints, and muscular system.
• Now a days it has been said that trauma is orthopaedic and orthopaedic is trauma.
• Since last 20 years Kothadia Nursing Home is providing almost care to orthopaedic patients by providing super specialties like:

1) Arthroscopy:- Arthroscopy i.e. examination of joints by using 4mm telescope is used to diagnose and treat the disorders at the joint.

• Arthroscopy can be diagnostic and / or operating.
• The commonly scoped joints are knee and shoulder joints.
• Arthroscopic procedures being carried out routinely at our centre are:
  1. Meniscal injuries
  2. Anterior Cruciate ligament injuries
  3. Posterior Cruciate ligament injuries
  4. Removal of Loose bodies
  5. Release of Maltracking  of patella.

2) Joint Replacement:- Joint Replacement is the procedure where both the components which forms the joints are replaced by prosthesis.

• The joints which are commonly replaced are Hip, Knee, Shoulder.
• Following Joint Replacement surgeries are routinely done at Kothadia Nursing Home.
1. Total Knee Replacement
2. Total Hip Replacement
3. Shoulder Replacement
4. Hemiarthroplasty at hip joint using Aastin – Moore prosthesis or Bipolar Prosthesis.

3) Pelvis and Acetabular Fractures:- Pelvis and Acetabular fractures are most complex fractures to treat.

• At our centre these fractures are being treated by  team of experienced doctors.
• Till today we have treated 56 cases of Pelvis and Acetabular fractures with better results.

4) Polytrauma:- Kothadia Nursing Home has a Trauma Unit with all facilities to treat a Polytraumatised patient for 24 x 7.

5) Paediatric Orthopaedics:- It is an superspeciality in orthopaedics where all congenital deformities, Paediatric trauma, Residual deformities cured either by trauma or polio are treated.

• Management of cerebral palsy is also a part of paediatric orthopaedics.
• Our centre is providing facilities to paediatric patients with the help of Dr. Taral Nagda, M.S. (Ortho), Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon from Mumbai. He is visiting regularly every two months.

6) Hand Surgery:- Hand is an very important part of the body having prehensile functions.

• our centre is running a hand clinic every Thursday from 4.00 to 6.00 p.m.
• This clinic is run jointly by:
  1. An orthopaedic surgeon – Dr. Kothadia P.J.  M.S. (ortho)
  2. A plastic surgeon – Dr. Basutkar C.K.  M.S. 9general Surgery, Mch (Plastic Surgery)
  3. A Physiotherapist – Dr. Kothadia Monika B.P. Th.
• Combinely they examine the cases of hand deformities and various hand problems and treat. As well as rehabilitate them to achieve optimum level for their occupational manipulations.
• Reimplantation of Digits is also a part of Hand surgery which is being carried out at our centre.

SURGERY:-

1) General Surgery:-All the abdominal and Ano –rectal surgeries are routinely performed in Kothadia Nursing Home.

• Endoscopy and Endoscopic surgery like-
  1. Laparoscopic abdominal surgeries
  2. Laparoscopic Cholecycstectomy  are also being done routinely.
• All the necessary equipments and gadgets which are required for these surgeries are available.

2) Neurosurgery:- Neurosurgery deals with disorders of brain and spinal cord like trauma, infections, congenital anomalies and degenerative disorders. For these problems , procedures we perform are:

• Spinal instrumentation for fracture, dislocation of spine, instabilities of spine.
• Micro lumbar Discoidectomy

3) Plastic Surgery:- Various Fascio – Cutaneous flaps are done to cover the soft tissue lesion compound fractures.

• Cosmetic surgeries is a part of plastic surgery which is also one of the feature in a cap of Kothadia Nursing Home.

4) Uro Surgery:-Endoscopic urology like-

• Transurethral Resection of Prostate (TURP)
• Basketing of calculi
• Cystoscopies
• Urethroscopies
• Stent operations are being performed.

5) Vascular and Thoracic:- Posttraumatic vascular repairs and chest injuries are managed efficiently with the help of visiting vasculo-thoracic surgeon.

• Thoracotomies and pneumenectomies are also performed.

MEDICINE:-

Round the clock facilities are available to treat critically ill patients under the able guidance of intensivist, a panel of experiences doctors and nursing staff.

1) Anaesthesia and pain clinic:-

• General and Regional Anaesthesia facilities are available by an experienced Anesthesiologist to carry out various surgical procedures.
• With the help of different regional blocks and infusion pumps ‘pain clinic’ is a feature of Anaesthesiology department run in Kothadia Nursing Home.
• In this we offer pain relief in posttraumatic conditions like chest injuries, post operative analgesia and malignant pain.
